Brack Water is a literary magazine run by the University of Maryland, College Park’s Creative Writing MFA program. Established in 2026, Brack Water derives its name from the mixture of salt and fresh water found in unique ecosystems and the habitat of terrapins, the University of Maryland’s mascot.
Brack Water aims to publish short fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, translations, and experimental work from emerging and established writers local to Maryland and elsewhere. Our mission aims to uphold a commitment to creating a community and helping you become the writer you envision.
